First Impression: Spiritpact

I always enjoyed watching show related to the supernatural world. I quite enjoyed watching Psychic Detective Yakumo for this reason, thus when I saw the promotional video for Spiritpact I was intrigued by it. Plus is categorize as a shounen-ai, which mean “bromance”, boy love story. Spiritpact is the japanese adaptation of a Chinese anime called Ling Qi (Soul Contract)

Promotional Video

Was I looking really forward for this show? Maybe not as much as some other series of the Winter 2017 season. Sure I got more interested after looking up the synopsis, supernatural + shounen-ai was enough for me to give it a try.

Two episode so far were release.
The first episode is a simple introduction to the show. They introduced the two main character You Keika and Ki Tanmoku. Keika is the heir an old family of exorcist, while Tanmoku is at the head of the most powerful exorcist family. Their first encounter is not the most happy one. At first Keika doesn’t believe what he see, he doesn’t think Tanmoku is an exorcist, he think all this a movie shooting and Tanmoku is a Korean actor. Later in the episode, Keika get hit by a truck and die. Tanmoku found is spirit at the hospital and propose him to sign a pact, this way he will be able to remain on the living side. If he doesn’t sign the pact, he will either disappear or will become an evil spirit. Already the storyline seems quite simple.

In the second episode, we meet Tanmoku fiancee. He went pick her up at the airport and bring her to the hotel. She also possess psychic abilities since she can see Keika who are now the shadow spirit of Tanmoku. At the hotel, Keika and Tanmoku fiance (can’t remember her name) get attack by evil spirit and they possess Tanomku fiance, they bring out the dark feeling in heart and push her to kill Keika. Obviously, the master exorcist arrive right on time to save his shadow spirit. The episode end to the appearance of a new character who doesn’t look to be on the good side.

So far the series seems to be really predictable, but not bad enough for me to be dropped. I will give it some more episode. At least the main character are really good-looking so it help.
