Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the first anime I watched, knowing it was an anime, I remember watching the french dub when it was airing on the french television, it’s also one of the first manga series I started collecting along DragonBall and Detective Conan. This series will forever have a special place in my heart and this is why I was really excited when they announce they will made a sequel to celebrate the 20 anniversary.

This brand new Cardcaptor series begins where the previous one ends, at least the way the manga end cause even if I rewatched the complete series one of two years ago I fail the remember who the series ends… anyway the manga end on Sakura walking to get to her middle-school and on her way she meet Syaoran who is back from Hong Kong for good. Follow a really happy and sweet moment that made me tear up a little.

So we are back with the original cast or almost since Rika going to a different middle-school and Eriol moved back to England, not long after his house was destroyed and a park was builded, however the house is back and young girl name Akiho moved in with her mysterious butler Yuna D. Kaito. And since we are talking about Cardcaptor Sakura, soon as someone move in Tomeda, weird shit start to happen. First all the Sakura Card go blank, then a new key appear and finally new card, Clear Card, start to make some mess around the city

If i were to talk about the Clear Card Arc without mentioning any name, pretty sure you would have the feeling that I’m talking about the Clow Cards Arc or the Sakura Card Arc, since the formula is the same…same…same even some of the new card have a Sakura Cards counterpart. It’s useless to say most of the series was predictable.

Is it really a bad thing they kept the same formula? Yes and No, Yes cause most of the people who watched this new arc are the long time fan of the series who was the targeted audience at the time of the first two arcs. This audience grew up so we could expect the series would follow.
However it’s neither a bad thing since they keep the same targeted audience, probably in the hope of getting new fans, in other word I feel like they put the focus on the potential new fans instead of the people who were already fan of the series. The formula worked in the past so why change it?

I know I might look like I didn’t enjoy the series, I did enjoy it despite the fact that I could pretty much predict most of the stuff that was happening, I loved seeing Sakura with new cloth everyday. I watch to many series where the character wear the exact same thing every single day so seeing the cute little Sakura in her cute outfit made me smile and Tomoyo enthusiasm about making her new costume just warmed my heart. I was happy to see Toya back and to see him interacting with Yue and seeing Yukito interacting with Kero-chan. I love the fact that our little yellow plush have a better relationship with the Snow Bunny instead than the Moon Guardian…

I liked the series, really like all those memories even if one episode for this new series was almost a copy of one episode of the first arc. I like how they were consistent about the anime without mixing manga related stuff in, like the fact that Fujitaka have magic power (not as powerful as Sakura) at the end of the manga series, but have none in the anime since there was some difference between the two ending.

If I sound bitter about the series it’s mostly cause of the ending if we can call that an ending. You can clearly see there is something else coming, you can feel it since there is still a lot of mysteries, you see it’s the end of an arc, but it’s still left a really bad after taste. The end of the last episode of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc, reminds me of the last episode of Gangsta. It look unfinished even if it technically finish since the arc it done. For the moment, we just have to wait for the next arc and I seriously can’t tell when it will come since the manga itself stopped at chapters 13 and it’s been a year (or almost) we didn’t get any update..

Now the big question…

Will I recommend the series? Yes but only once the series is completely done, like when all the questions find the answers and of course if the person doesn’t mind repetitive story, so yes I will recommend it… Of course I will make sure they have seen the two previous arc and the movies before.

This was my review on the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card arc. Did you watch the series? What did you think of it?

Mel is Watching | Spring 2018 Week 7

Howdy everyone!!

Welcome back to a new edition of Mel is Watching, not gonna lie I’m surprise I’m actually able to keep with this post.

As you know I drop Persona 5: The Animation last week, not because it was a bad anime, in fact I like the story, the visual and the music, however it wasn’t able to keep me interested during the fighting scene, those scene wasn’t really exciting since the studio decide to keep the same battle format than in the video game. It it this format look nice in a video game, I cannot say the same when it come to anime. So this is why I dropped the series.

Now let’s take a look at how the watch list look this week

  • Black Clover
  • Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc
  • Darling in the Franxx
  • My Hero Academia, Season 3
  • Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
  • Tokyo Ghoul: re

Episode 32 – Three-Leaf Sprout

I will stop guessing when that arc will end, cause which time they come up with something else to continue it. An arc that could have last 2 episode is now at four, amazing, but I should have known something like that was coming. That being said Gauche you are cute but you are a jerk I hope you eventually realize that if you want to make Marie happy, you will have to start caring about the people around her.

Sakura and Syaoran relation just make me smile, there are so cute together, I would like to ask Clamp to give us an official artwork from their wedding please…
Other than Sakura having a very effective attack on Syaoran heart, we doesn’t learnt much other than Sakura’s magical power are growing stronger.
With only three episode left, I really wonder how this series will end.

Darling in the Franxx
Episode 19 – When the Sakura Blooms

With only five episode left to the series, I really wonder how they will answer all the question. There is so many thing that need to be explained.
I was really happy to see that wedding, since I kind of caring only about what happen to those kid. Futoshi finally give-up and decide to give his support to Kokoro and Mitsuru, this wedding should have been a beautiful moment…

My Hero Academia, Season 3
Episode 7 (45) – What a Twist

This was an other solid episode high in emotion.
I’m still unsure about what hurt me the most about this episode, Bakugo being kidnapped or Midoriya in pain cause he couldn’t saved him. Both was really hard to watch, even if I knew this was coming. I also know what is coming next, but I’m still stress about it.
The aftermath of the attack as also hard, seeing all the student hurt was painful those poor baby.

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online
Episode 6, SAO Loser

I like how they talk about the previous season without showing anything from the series due to the studio right.
This week we met the real life M-san and for some reason I had that feeling he would be a cutie, however I didn’t thought he will be as crazy as Pito.
In the next episode, Karen/LLENN will join the second SJ with the help of one of her friend.
This show still doesn’t have a clear direction but it seems to want to introduction something like a plot…

Tokyo Ghoul: re
Episode 7 – mind: Day of Recollection

© Studio Pierrot

The auction case is over, Big madam is dead, Haise took custody of Hinami over Arima since he is the one you “beat” her.
The episode was a smooth one, the member of the Quinx Squad got promoted, Toru take special lesson with Suzuya to wield knife and Haise seems to be the perfect housewife. Also I like how Haise seemed to slowly remember his past, without really knowing where those memories come from. I like who there are gradually introduced to the series.. The episode end on the very heartbreaking scene of Tsukiyama.

*******************

As the season go, I really wonder how show like Darling in the Franxx and Cardcaptor will end, both show doesn’t have a lot of episodes left but so many question that need answer.

I don’t worry too much about how Tokyo ghoul will go since we had the confirmation of an other season, hopefully they will not stop it at 2 (or 4 depending how you count) and continue cause from what I know there is still lot of thing to cover.

This is all for me!
